Virtual Disk Drive Design Studio

The Virtual Disk Drive Design studio provides an immersive, virtual design environment in which the learner designs ACME Engineering’s newest disk drive. By designing the disk drive according to the provided specifications, the user first learns the key features and functionality of hard disk drives and then learns about the design trade-offs required to meet the specifications.

 

Electric Drill Stack: Case Study of the Black & Decker CD 2000 Cordless Hand Drill and Bicycle Dissection and Bicycle Dissection

The Drill Stack and Bicycle Dissection support hands-on dissection activities designed to help students understand the components and functionality of two common items — the typical hand drill and bicycle. The courseware include textual explanations, animated schematic drawings and cross-sectional drawings.

 

Mars Navigator: An Interactive CD Program about Mars, Aerospace Engineering, Astronomy, and JPL Mars Missions

Mars Navigator provides a wealth of timely information about NASA’s missions to Mars and has been a popular outreach tool in the K-12 community. It includes a variety of information from basic astronomy to mission planning to spacecraft design.
