Premier Courseware of 1998
West Point Bridge Designer and Project Links were announced as the Premier Courseware of 1998 at the 1998 ASEE/IEEE Frontiers in Education Conference in Tempe, AZ.
Della Steam Plant Case Study
P.K. Raju and Chetan S. Sankar, Auburn University
The Della Steam Plant Case Study presents an engaging, real-life engineering case study requiring active participation and teaming by engineering students. Through the use of videos, photos and text, students are given a “tour” and the technical background related to a steam power plant. They are then presented with a technical dilemma: should the turbine be shut off for repairs, potentially costing the plant millions of dollars?
MDSolids
Timothy A. Philpot, Murray State University
MDSolids offers students numerical, descriptive, and visual results and details that illustrate and explain many types of problems in introductory mechanics of solids courses. In conjunction with traditional instruction techniques, MDSolids supports a learner’s development of basic concepts and problem-solving skills through self-study
Structural Engineering Visual Encyclopedia-UNH
Robert M. Henry, University of New Hampshire
SEVE-UNH offers students a quick visual reference to common engineering terms and technical drawings related to the design and construction of buildings. SEVE-UNH provides a rich and valuable encyclopedia of terminology, animations, drawings and photographs to address a gap in many civil/structural/construction engineering courses.
